Hi e-friends,
Again MBA subject. Hope to keep you a bit bored and tired of all of this… :-)
We’re getting to an end of the first period of the Master, although still we have two exams to do (Countries Economy and Cost Management) and a public presentation about RSC. Corporate Social Responsibility (“Responsabilidad Social Corporativa in Spanish”).
RSC is the new fashion for big companies. They are now trying to show that they care about society, poverty, invalids, children and so on…
I didn’t know there is an index, an economic index where all the “good companies” are represented, like the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Index) or the FTSE4Good. It’s supposed investors look to those indexes in order to invest their money in one multinational or the other. A company is considered to belong to those groups only if itf joins the Ecuador Principles and the Global Compact (“Pacto Mundial” agreed within the United Nation).
Studying RSC within a “business environment” is quite disappointing. You realize those Big companies only care about the Society because it’s good for the value of their shares in the market and it’s financially beneficial. In other words, it’s good for their images towards the public. They start one RSC project or another mainly based in economic benefits instead of real people necessities.
One thought here, I’m glad RSC is fashionable, it might be that finally this is the only way to make those “evil companies” to make the Good…
Thanks and smile,
Dk

Hi Jaime... nice post :-).
Hope we both are not boring our audience with so many posts about the master, but in fact, I also posted something about CSR (RSC in spanish) in my blog:

From my point of view the more information and mature the market will become, the more important and frecuent this social actions will be. Is a question of time... but I do not see it clear in the case of SMB (small-medium sized businesses). What will they do? are they also under pressure from the stakeholders?.
Anyway... hope you have everything already studied for tomorrow's exam :-D.
By the way!! Great job you and Javi on RSC!!.
Un abrazo.
Salva
